We're tracking and acting on a number of issues Help save Piney Branch Elementary School. Montgomery County is without a pool manager and has closed the pool. The school and community want them to reopen it. Write your county-council representative, and please download the petition, print it, and collect signatures. Public safety. OTRA adopted this position on policing in October 2004 -- it calls for bringing Takoma Park's force to full strength, evaluting additional steps to strengthen the force, and increased patrol presence and visibility -- and we continuing to work on the issue. Here is a compilation of crime in our neighborhood in the year April 2005 - March 2006. OTRA sent this June 5, 2006 letter to City Manager Barb Matthews concerning the hiring of a new police chief. OTRA is working with residents and officials in Takoma Park and Washington DC to create the Safe Takoma program. Safe Takoma would welcome your involvement.
