Old Town Residents' Association (OTRA)
Meeting Minutes, September 20, 2007


Attendees: Chris Simpson, Chantal Worzala, Seth Grimes, Wolfgang Mergner,
Andy Kelemen, Ken Firestone, Josh Wright, Bruce Williams.

Location: 104 Tulip Avenue, home of Wolfgang and Gertrud Mergner.

1) OTRA President Seth Grimes convened the meeting shortly after 7:30 pm.

2) Seth provided copies of a recent police newsletter.  The group discussed
public-safety alerts, police staffing, and the planned November 15, 2007 
PEN crime/public-safety forum.  The group passed a resolution in support of
police-overhiring as deemed necessary by the department, with wording to be
drafted by Seth and sent to the OTRA list for review.

3) Candidates forum: Mayoral candidate Bruce Williams and Ward 1 City Council
candidate Josh Wright spoke and fielded questions.  Bruce expressed particular
concern about redevelopment, affordability, public safety, and resident 
participation in city initiatives.  Josh spoke about public safety, fair 
taxation, development in Old Town, and city government performance.

4) The group briefly discussed the Takoma Metro station development.
